When it came time to refresh the SL for 2009, Mercedes set out to make the car more aggressive and striking. The new face's swept-back headlights and wide-mouth grille successfully convey a more sporting intent. This AMG model gained an array of new or improved standard features, as well as significant upgrades to the steering and the Active Body Control system. A sporty new three-spoke steering wheel is the most dramatic change made to the SL’s interior. The only other changes of note are the mildly revised instrument cluster, a more logical COMAND infotainment system, and the newly available three-speed Airscarf system that blows warm air onto your neck.
