THE STORY This Daytona was built to combine the raw mechanical character of a competition-inspired coupe with enough thoughtful engineering to make it genuinely enjoyable on the street.
Its centerpiece is the aluminum Dart-block 408 small-block Ford. AFR aluminum heads, a performance valvetrain and genuine Weber carburetion create a naturally aspirated combination producing a reported 500+ horsepower. Opening the Daytona's forward-hinged nose reveals eight individual velocity stacks, polished engine components and the surrounding tubular chassis—making the engine compartment an important part of the car's presentation.
This isn't simply a high-horsepower build. Independent rear suspension, Wilwood brakes and an electric vacuum system for the power-assisted brakes show attention to making that performance usable. The cockpit follows the same philosophy, retaining its competition character while adding heat, air conditioning, custom seating and a backup camera.
With approximately 3,300 miles, this Daytona has been driven, shown and enjoyed rather than kept as a static display piece.
Engine & Performance
The 408ci Ford V8 uses an aluminum Dart block, AFR 205cc aluminum heads, full roller valvetrain and genuine Weber 48 IDF carburetors. The seller reports output at more than 500 horsepower.
Power is delivered through a TKO 5-speed manual transmission, while independent rear suspension, coilovers and Wilwood performance brakes provide the supporting chassis hardware.
The genuine Weber induction is particularly noteworthy. These are actual carburetors rather than an EFI system styled to resemble vintage Webers, preserving the induction sound, response and old-school mechanical experience that suits the Daytona.
Exterior
Finished in metallic red with white competition stripes, the Daytona carries #40 roundels and period-inspired racing graphics, white side pipes, competition-style side windows and classic Daytona/Cobra-style wheels.
Its dramatic forward-tilting nose exposes the engine, suspension, cooling system and chassis. The seller describes the finish as show-winning paint, and the car has been displayed at automotive events.
